Excitingly, YES!!! The Top Pinterest Questions series continues with how you can intertwine your Shopify site with Pinterest for amazing results.
On May 7, 2020, Pinterest shared a news article about Pinterest launching a Shopify partnership. This is a great way for small businesses on Shopify to get their products in front of pinners on Pinterest.
A new app within the Shopify platform gives more than 1 million merchants a quick way to upload their catalogs to Pinterest and turn their products into shoppable product pins in just a couple of clicks (Pinterest, 2020). How awesome is that!
This awesome new app on Shopify includes shopping features like tag installation, catalog ingestion, automatic daily updating of products, and an ad-buying interface. For Shopify merchants, this is an easier setup and access to product pin across Pinterest with or without ads with even reporting and results tracking. What is so awesome is that this app connects the individual store with Pinterest so the merchant does not have to make any changes which makes it overall easier.
Here is how it looks on a Pinterest profile when Shopify is connected. You will see Shop in the middle of the main page.
When you click on Shop, you will be taken to the product pins connected from the Shopify catalog. Here is what that looks like:
Ok here is my opinion on this new feature:
A great option for Shopify merchants- I overall think this is a great partnership and will help businesses on Shopify with setting up a Pinterest business account and get their products in front of Pinterest users
Doesn't covert the images into recommended Pinterest size- Pinterest's interface is portrait-oriented so vertical pins with a 2:3 ratio are best. The size is 735 x 1102 pixels
Pin descriptions may not be SEO keywords and optimized- the descriptions are from Shopify and do not have all the keywords needed for optimization unless your Shopify descriptions have it. If you want to have your product pins in your Shop on Pinterest optimized you will have to have that on Shopify apparently. Make sure you use SEO keywords (search engine optimized keywords) that people are searching for when it comes to your products
Boards are not completed- Shopify doesn't help with boards, board descriptions, board cover images, and optimized boards which is still needed to capture more traffic, be more visually appealing on Pinterest, and help with organization on the platform
Overall kudos to Shopify and Pinterest for working together on this partnership and helping merchants get their products out easier in front of the millions of users on Pinterest, which is a win-win for all! I still have a few recommendations for a business to have a booming Pinterest account which I listed above.
